365 Days of Design
By the end of 2022, I was not confident in my designs and wanted a more defined style. I set out to create an 8x10 poster design every day of the year. My goals included improving my knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop and experimenting with typography. I keep a photo archive of things that inspire me and often used it when creating these posters.
Final Thoughts
Upon final reflection, I am proud of myself for my growth in technical skills and completion of this endeavor. It is an inadvertent continuation of my senior manifesto project of me proclaiming my desire to keep growing my design skills. I have always proudly been a creative person, but this creativity has grown tenfold in the past few months. I am keenly observant of everything around me. I take note of the colors used in murals, the contents of litter on the beach, and layout of intersections. All of this is potential inspiration for a design. If I were to do this project again, I would have slightly stricter guidelines to build more of a challenge for myself. I do believe I improved my experimentation and understanding of letterforms and absolutely have a better grasp on all of the tools at my disposal in Illustrator and Photoshop. All of the posters of the 365 series are viewable on my instagram story highlights.
Preface
Midpoint Reflection
Halfway through this project, I felt a lot more confident in my designs and looked forward to creating a new one each evening. I had become so much more observant of inspiration and other creative acts around me. I had a positive view of the work I created, while still knowing where I needed to improve. At this point, it became difficult to not repeat color palettes or design too similarly to a previous poster. I occasionally watched tutorials to continue to learn new techniques in Illustrator and Photoshop to continue to learn.
